Captain – Eric Olejniczak
Eric holds a MCA Class IV Unlimited License and has been a captain of yachts professionally for over 22 years (Chosen One, Missing Link, Namaste, Monte Carlo). The love of the sea is in his blood – since his Great-Grandfather was a Merchant Mariner, and he has been sailing since he was a young child in Poland. After attending University in Canada, he opened a Sailing School and Charter Company with his wife in Vancouver, which offered classes and charters aboard sailboats in the Caribbean. Eric takes safety very seriously and prides himself on keeping longevity with owners and his crew. Eric has chartered yachts in the Bahamas, Caribbean, Cuba, West Coast of Mexico, the east Pacific, the Mediterranean, and the Baltic Sea. When not yachting, he enjoys playing tennis, hiking, mountain biking, and Training at the Gym.
First Mate – Steven Wright
Steve was raised on the Southern shores of Lake Ontario. Steve had a passion for water from a young age which lead him into competitive swimming throughout his youth. To follow his love for the ocean and to pursue a career in the Hospitality Industry, Steve made his move to Florida. He began his yachting career in 2009 and since then attained immeasurable life experiences. Steve has cruised over 30,000nm, spent summer Charter seasons in New England, Holiday Charters in St.Barths for New Years and Junkanoo in Harbour Island. Steve's favorite charters leave from Nassau and head south to the Exuma Islands in the Bahamas where he likes to swim with the sharks at Danger Reef and Compass Cay. Steve is a certified Scuba Instructor and he loves to capture the moments both above and below the water on film. He has dived in many great locations including Bonaire and Saba Rock. Grab a pair of fins and meet Steve on the Aft deck. "Let's get wet!
Chef – Michael Machado
Michael developed a sense of craftsmanship at a young age by smoking fish and sausages with his grandfather. He learned the importance of quality ingredients while tending a garden and foraging wild edibles with his grandmother in his hometown near Toronto, Canada. He followed this interest in food during his teenage years by starting in a classic Italian bistro as a dishwasher at 10 years old and worked his way into a chef de partie position by 17. Moving to Canadian wine country - Niagara-on-the-Lake, Michael continued developing his skills, completing his apprenticeship in nouvelle French Cuisine by the age of 20 - under award winning Chef Matt Tattrie of Queen’s Landing. Michael traveled Canada, making his way to the famous Five Star Hotel - Fairmont Chateau Whistler hotel where he developed his skills in butchery and high end French and Italian catering. Michael has 15 years of in restaurant and 5 star catering experience. He is receptive to guest needs and enjoys talking about food. Michael is an amateur food photographer. He snowboards, surfs and skateboards when he isn’t in the galley.
Kelly Olejniczak – Chief Stewardess
Kelly is a natural-born hostess who loves to spoil guests and make everyone feel welcome aboard. On charter Kelly, thrives on the diversity from busy families with active children to hosting high-profile guests such as royalty, government officials, athletes and entertainers. She is a Certified Sailing Instructor, also holds an equivalent 200 GT Captain’s License, and has been a yachting professional for over 22 years with her husband, Captain Eric.
Kelly’s positive approach and “can do” attitude makes her a great asset to the Sweet Escape charter program. Outside of yachting, she enjoys fitness and nutrition, hiking, and mountain biking.
Engineer – Jack Swanepoel
Jack is a young energetic South African who has always had an interest in mechanical equipment and the ocean. He started his career maintaining aircrafts and then realized that he can combine his career and passion for the ocean by moving to yachts. After sailing from Cape Town to Florida he realized that this is a lifestyle that he is going to pursue. With 8 years’ experience on super yachts and 30 years life experience he believes he has what it takes to run a safe ship while ensuring the guests onboard are having the time of their lives.
Stewardess – Sallie Swanepoel
Sallie joins us from the shores of Tasmania, Australia. Her love of the ocean started from a young age spending time on the water with family and friends, which she cherishes.
In 2011 she joined the professional yachting scene racing and cruising throughout Australia and South East Asia. Sallie has maintained her medical career as a Registered Nurse making her a dynamic crew member. Yachting combines her loves of fine food, wine and travel and she is impassioned to cater to your every need and help create life long memories for you and your loved ones.
Deckhand – Devon Gouws
Dev grew up in various towns and cities over South Africa. His love for the ocean began when he moved to the city of Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape of Southern Africa at the age of 9. Dev has been in the service industry all his life. He started as a bartender in his early twenties and worked his way up to management. Ever since he has been managing cafe’s and very successful restaurant chains. In 2013 Devon decided to give the mining industry a try, working as a sales rep for a pump company for three years before deciding it was time to get himself back to the ocean. He began his yachting career two years ago and has since been working as deck/Engineer. Dev gets great enjoyment when guests are having a wonderful experience onboard and takes pride in introducing them to the variety of water toys that Sweet Escape boasts. Devon enjoys scuba diving, hiking and photography in his spare time.
Stewardess – Aurelie Parant
Aurelie was born in France, she is from Burgundy. She started out her career as a Spa Therapist onboard cruise ships and moved on to the luxury yachting industry. She has been working on yachts since 2006 crossing the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea several times. Passionate in Health and Nutrition, she has recently became a Health Coach. Aurelie speaks French, English and Italian.
