Captain Paul Garfield hails from the United Kingdom, and has been boating for nearly all of his life. At the age of 5, he started sailing and racing Optimists, and by 20 years of age, he had his first job on a luxury yacht. With over 20 years in the yachting industry -- eight of which as a Captain -- his experience includes working with vessels up to 135’ and 14 Atlantic crossings to date. He believes in offering charter guests a unique experience coupled with exemplary service, and inspires his crew to strive toward those goals. Captain Paul’s favorite place to visit is India, and when he’s not working at sea, you’ll find him sailing, hiking, running, playing tennis, enjoying a game of chess, or strumming on his guitar.





Hendrik Coetzer – First Officer

Hendrik Coetzer is from the small surfing village of Cape St. Francis on the Southern tip of South Africa. His family home was 300 feet from the water’s edge, so he and his two brothers spent much of their time on the white sand beach or on the waves. He had an active childhood filled with underwater hockey, mountain biking and swimming in addition to being a competitive tennis player and body boarder. Hendrik spent close to a decade as the owner of a large construction company that specialized in luxury villas, guest lodges, and hotel renovations on private game reserves. Six years ago, he joined his younger brothers in the yachting industry, and has worked his way up from deckhand to first mate on board charter yachts. His ultimate goal is to captain a yacht. Hendrik loves the sea, but has also been captivated by the scenic beauty of Switzerland




Reynette Kruger - Chef
Education: Studied Drama at Tshwane University of Technology; Completed Culinary Course at Steyn’s Culinary School, Pretoria.

Reynette Kruger was born in Port Shepstone, South Africa and grew up close to the ocean. She has a background in the hospitality industry, having worked in hotels, resorts and restaurants, but also has experience in the performing arts. She started her career in the yachting industry as a Stewardess until moving into the role of chef in 2015. A self-professed foodie, Reynette loves visiting new restaurants and expanding her palate. She also enjoys painting, reading and writing. Her lifelong passion for the outdoors is why she adores the Western Cape of South Africa, where the beauty of the ocean and nature is always on display.







Bernadette De Bruin - Chief Stew

Bernadette De Bruin hails from Bushmans River, South Africa, and grew up on both the west and east coasts of the country. She had a very active upbringing that included fishing, camping, wakeboarding, and horseback riding. Affectionately known as Berni, she started her career in yachting after graduating in 2014, working on both private and charter vessels. Her ultimate goal in the industry is to become a yacht designer. Her heart belongs to her hometown of Bushmans River, which she calls the most beautiful place in the world. Berni’s hobbies include travel and enjoying the outdoors, and when not at work, you’ll find her spending time with family and friends.




Carli Deline van Wyk - Second Stew

Carli van Wyk was born in Cape Town, South Africa and grew up on the coast in Strand. As a child, she spent much of her time on the beach. She also played golf for more than 15 years. Before joining the yachting industry, she worked in film as an art department coordinator and props buyer. In 2017, she joined M/Y NITA K as Second Stew. Known for her energy and sense of humor, Carli hopes to travel as much as possible before eventually settling in the USA. While at sea, she spends her down time exploring the charter destinations or heading out to see the marine life. Of the ports she’s visited thus far, she loves The Bahamas; she also hopes to visit Bora Bora one day. Carli enjoys chatting with charter guests about her passion for film, and is always willing to share some golf tips.





Amber Parkes – Deck Stew

Amber Parkes was born in Palm Springs, California and grew up racing dirt bikes, off-roading, and playing club soccer in the surrounding desert area. Her love of boating started on Lake Havasu in Arizona when she was young, and after working in the construction, fine dining and event planning industries, she started her maritime profession two years ago as Lead Steward on an excursion cruise line in Southeast Alaska. Amber plans to work her way through the ranks while focusing on the deck and engineer departments, and by expanding on diving and water sport skills. She enjoys meeting new people and creating enduring friendships. She strongly believes that every challenge can be overcome, and that if you want something, go for it.





William Valverde - Chief Engineer
Education: Nautical Engineering, 5 years; Chief Engineer Unlimited.

William Valverde was born and raised in Panama City, Panama, and has been boating for more than a decade. He spent seven years working on Royal Caribbean Cruises, and three years on yachts before joining the crew of Sweet Escape. He has visited many ports, and found Palma de Mallorca, Spain to be the most captivating. In his leisure time, he enjoys snorkeling, drawing, and technological research. William’s skills and experience will ensure a seamless experience for charter guests.




Craig Kruger - Deckhand

Craig Kruger was born in Bloemfontein, South Africa and grew up in on the beach in Strand, outside of Cape Town. He started boating at a very young age, heading out on his grandfather’s fishing boat nearly every weekend. Craig worked as a divemaster at a school in Cape Town and as a marine safety coordinator for South Africa’s film industry before embarking on a career in yachting. His greatest love is diving, and being on a yacht allows him to dive in some of the places he’s always dreamt of. He can also teach anyone to dive, so guests can head under the sea during their charter regardless of their skill level. Craig plans to become an engineer on a yacht, and his long-term goals include becoming freelance while living and working in the United States.
