CREW PROFILES
Captain: Doug RogersNationality: Canada
Number of Crew: 2
Crew Profiles:
Doug was born in London Ontario and before chartering worked in Michigan, U.S. as a Sales Engineer. Doug is a certified sailing instructor with Canadian Yachting Association and holds his Boatmasters 50 Ton license. Doug has been sailing the BVI's for 20 years and owned a monohull in Ontario for 30 years. Doug has raced extensively including racing from Pt. Huron to Mackinaw. Doug's children grew up on a sailboat as most week-ends he would pack the family up and head for the boat to sail the beautiful waters of Lake Huron. Doug is an excellent captain, he is extremely patient and an enthusiastic teacher. Doug encourages both novice and seasoned sailors to particpate in sailing "Chateau".

Barb was born in Sarnia, Ontario and before chartering spent 21 years working as an accountant. As accounting work was quite seasonal Barb was able to enjoy the benefits of living on Lake Huron. She owned and operated a 26' Grampion "Bannana Split". She has also raced in Lake Huron and visited the BVI's on 4 occasions before making this her new home. When Barb was a teen-ager she worked as a volunteer leader at the YM-YWCA. She also worked as a counsellor at Camp Kenny (a weekly camp for children where they sleep in tents)and a day camp as a counsellor for two years before she became director. She studied parks and recreation at University and is still trying to figure out how she got into accounting instead of her natural calling which seems to be working with children. Barb is a warm, bubbly hostess and excellent first mate to Captain Doug. Be sure to ask your broker about our "FAMILY SPECIAL" (one child under the age of 14 - sails and dines for free).

With five year's experience Doug and Barb have designed a vacation they feel will be enjoyable for their guests. Their new ALL INCLUSIVE CHARTER includes seven breakfasts, five dinners and five lunches. This gives the guests the opportuntity to experience two lunches and two dinners ashore. They also provide their guests with soft drinks, "Captains's Drink of the Day", domestic wine and beer, and a standard ship's bar. Doug and Barb offer a variety of good wholesome meals. Their meals are simple and delicious.

We have found that the children are very comfortable with Barb and she is able to keep them amused and happy while the parents go off snorkling by themselves or out to Willy T's with Captain Doug. Barb and Doug also offer to stay home and entertain the children one evening during the charter so the parents can go ashore for a romantic dinner.

For those of you who prefer to do your own cooking and take an active role in sailing "Chateau" they offer a CAPTAIN AND FIRST MATE CHARTER. As a guest on this charter you will have full use of the galley, fridge, freezer, gas barbecue. All provisions will be your responsibility but Barb will assist in the galley and to make your holiday more relaxing, she will gladly provision the boat in advance according to your desires.

Let Chateau Charters be your bed and breakfast on the water, where you wake up each day to a new experience on a different island and you haven't left your room. The rest of the day is yours; to explore the white sand beaches of Jost Van Dyke, the Baths at Virgin Gorda, experience the flamingoes on Anegada, or snorkel the caves of Norman Island.

Spend a full week or just a few days. Barb and Doug will be happy to accomodate your needs and design the vacation that fits your budget and/or desires.
