Captain Paul Knox and Purser Lo-Ami Knox will be taking time off between 16 July and 16 October for the birth of their first child. Captain Jeff Guymon (KANALOA), a highly experienced and respected charter captain will be the relief captain during that period and the crew will be reduced to 13 total. Here is a brief bio of Captain Jeff:
CAPTAIN JEFFREY GUYMON’S roots are from America’s mid-west, but an interest in SCUBA diving led him early on to the sea. As dive master in Florida’s aquamarine waters, he soon found himself driving boats and naturally progressing his way up to mega-yachts. From Canada to the Caribbean to the Mediterranean, Jeff’s 27 years of experience on busy boats attest to his success afloat. As Captain he is responsible not only for the safe passage of his yacht and the well being of her passengers and crew, but also for maintaining high standards onboard, insuring guests of a five star holiday.
Captain Paul S. Knox - United States
Paul grew up in upstate New York and began yachting in Michigan in 1986 after serving 9 years in the U.S. Coast Guard. He has served as Captain on various yachts over the past 20 years. Paul took a short break from the warm tropical waters of yachting in 1993 and served as Chief Mate aboard a Bering Sea commercial longliner in Alaska. He enjoys helping guests enjoy breathtaking views and magnificent holidays throughout the world. Paul and his wife Lo-ami split their home time between Pompano Beach FL and Kareehoek in South Africa.
Purser Lo-ami Knox - United States & South Africa
Lo-ami was raised on a 200,000 acre ranch in central South Africa, Lo-ami studied culinary arts for 3 years at Silwood Kitchen, Cordon Bleu Academy in Cape Town. Working as sous-chef at the prestigious Sigita game reserve, she provided fine dining for the guests vacationing at the ‘Relais and Chateaux’ safari resort. Lo-ami has been yachting since then, sailing the Caribbean, Great Lakes East and West Coasts of the United States, British Columbia and the Mediterranean.
First Officer Patrick Selep United States
Patrick grew up in Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. He learned to sail small boats before he could drive. He turned his passion for the water into a career working on traditional sailing vessels such as schooners and square riggers. He left the lakes for the ocean, sailing first the East coast and then the West via the Panama Canal. More recently he explored the wilds of Alaska and the Sea of Cortez an officer aboard a small cruise ship. While there he found his calling dodging ice bergs to approach calving glaciers, spotting wildlife along the shore and tracking whales in their summer feeding grounds as well as their winter homes.
Bosun Anton Hristov Bulgaria
Anton comes from Varna, the Bulgarian Black Sea pearl. At age 29 he has over a decade of hospitality background as he worked in numerous of bars, restaurants as well as the biggest hotel chain and most popular cruise lines. After such a journey he finally found home in yachting and is willing to devote himself to the industry. His dream is for the Black Sea to become one of the most popular yachting destinations. Tony is very sports oriented, he competed gymnastics in high school, also enjoys all water and winter sports, fitness and is our resident yoga instructor. Tony has been onboard Huntress for 2 years.
Deck Hand Brendon Weinman United States
Brendon comes the west coast of the United States and Canada, using it landscape for his enjoyment. He spent the winter seasons on the mountain snowboarding, but in summer he took up playing golf, swimming, baseball, and just recently scuba diving. He is into healthy living and fitness. Brendon joined yachting 2 years ago and has just recently joined Huntress.
Deck Hand Dan Nedwidek United States
Dan Nedwidek hails originally from Western Pennsylvania and later moved to Charleston SC. He has been working on boats in some fashion all of his life. In the past he has run lifeguard boats and led nature and inshore fishing charters. Dan has been in the yachting industry for 1 year. Aside from boating he is an avid fisherman, particularly offshore and a surfer. Dan, a Nittany Loin, holds a BS from Penn State.
Chief Engineer Cadman Irvine New Zealand
Cadman joined yachting in 2006 after 9 years of commercial deep sea fishing off New Zealand, South America and the Indian Ocean. Cadman and his wife worked together seeing many wonderful parts of the world that yachting life provides and meeting many new friends. They left yachting in 2008 to start their family and now Cadman has returned to yachting as a rotational chief engineer.
2nd Engineer Michael Slack Canada
Michael joined Huntress in 2009 after spending ten years in the Turks & Caicos Islands, working in the diving industry as an instructor and photographer. Originally from Kingston, Ont. Canada, Michael called the mountains of British Columbia home for a few years before the call of the ocean brought him back to the yachting industry. In his spare time Michael enjoys replacing his tools with a golf club and spending time on the links.
Chief Stewardess Sybil Hennigar United States
Sybil was born in Boston but spent her summers sailing along the coast of Maine. After graduating Bowdoin College with a BA in French, Sybil spent two years working in educational publishing before moving to France to teach English in the French school system. While in France, Sybil was introduced to yachting and has spent the last five years working aboard various yachts. Highlights of her time in the industry have included a trip through the Panama Canal and a visit to the Galapagos Islands. In her free time Sybil enjoys running, sailing and traveling.
Second Stewardess Elize De Wet South Africa
Elize, originally from Johannesburg, moved to the beautiful wine region of Stellenbosch where she not only broadened her wine knowledge but also managed to graduate with a BFA in Graphic Design and Illustration. She joined her first yacht shortly thereafter and has been working in the industry both ashore and at sea since 2006, visiting more than 40 countries. Her hobbies include yoga, sailing and scuba diving and she hopes to complete her Dive Instructor certification in the near future.
Stewardess Gabrielle Coenen United States
Gabbi has lived the majority of her life in the beautiful valley of Medellin, Colombia. While growing up, Gabrielle spent her weekends horseback riding at the family farm. Moving to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida she attended the University of Miami briefly until she found her passion in the hospitality side of yachting. Gabbi Loves trying something new and she is always ready for an adventure. Gabbi joined Huntress in January 2010
Stewardess Chanel Mackay Canada
Chanel grew up in Vancouver, BC. Canada where she started sailing as a young child with her family in the Pacific Northwest and Mediterranean. She holds a business degree from the University of Victoria and a post graduate degree in Marketing. She is an avid snowboarder and now calls the resort town of Whistler home. While new to yachting, Chanel joins Huntress with ten years hospitality experience.
Chef Tim MacDonald Australia
Tim grew up in Melbourne, Australia where his fascination for cuisine became apparent early in life. Since his apprenticeship in the culinary arts Tim has spent twenty years as Head chef in a variety of top restaurants in Australia and London. He has since made the transition from restaurants to more personal cooking on board yachts and this is his fifth season in the super yacht industry. His knowledge of worldwide cuisine ensures that every day you get an extensive menu to choose from. Tim has held the chef’s position on board Charisma, Marathon and Allegria before joining Huntress
Steward/ Barman Darren Smalley Canada
Darren spent his youth in Port Moody, BC a town 30 mins outside of Vancouver, BC. His interests include travel, food, wine, music and the outdoors. He learned how to cook at a very young age from his mother who is an amazing cook herself. He began his yachting career in 2010 and plans to be in the yachting industry for many years to come.
