Captain Ronald Gonsalves (He is a can do kind of guy)

Ron has been a dedicated and enthusiastic yachtsman since the tender age of seven, when he began racing sailboats on Long Island Sound.

He holds a USCG 500 gross ton license, STCW 95 certification, and numerous additional professional endorsements and certificates. He is also a licensed PADI dive instructor.

Ron’s yachting career began in the late 1980s when he delivered a 72-foot motor vessel from the U.S. to the Mediterranean and then served as her captain for two years in the Mediterranean. Subsequently, he embarked on a year-and-a-half voyage from Taiwan to Fort Lauderdale as captain of an 87-foot sailboat. Before joining Trilogy, he served as captain for 14 years aboard the 104-foot classic sailboat Tioga.

Ron has completed 11 transatlantic crossings and has extensive experience cruising in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, the Bahamas, and along both coasts of the United States. He has also sailed in the Indian and Pacific oceans. He comes by his love of the sea naturally, for he is descended from a long line of marine professionals who originally hailed from the Cape Verde Islands, an archipelago off the west coast of Africa. His father was a captain for Esso (now Exxon), and his grandfather captained commercial tugs and served as captain aboard the S. S. Hampton from the 1920s through the 1940s.

A doctor of economics as well as a seasoned yachting professional, Ron received his undergraduate degree from New York University and completed his graduate and post-graduate study at American University.

With his solid maritime background, Ron is eminently qualified to be captain of Trilogy. With his extensive knowledge and education, coupled with a naturally outgoing nature, he is an exceptionally delightful host.

CHEF: Thierry Goulard
Chef Thierry brings an exceptional international gastronomic background to Trilogy and delights guests with his personal blend of classic French, bistro French, innovative American, and world cuisines.

Born in the sea-bordered province of Brittany in northwestern France, Thierry graduated with honors from College Hotelier de Vernet in Les Bains, France. He went from there to Paris to train in the top kitchens of The Ritz, Lutetia, Meurice, and Le Petit Colombier. He then moved to Barcelona, Spain, where he worked at Los Caracoles.

After relocating to New York City, he joined the culinary team at the legendary five-diamond restaurant Le Cirque, as well as at La Bonne Soupe. During his twelve years in the city, he also worked for celebrated fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier and his brother, artist Eric Demarchelier, at their French bistro on the Upper East Side. He later moved to California to join chef extraordinaire Wolfgang Puck at his flagship restaurant Spago and also at Granita in Malibu.

In 2001, Thierry settled in Charleston, South Carolina, where he owned two restaurants, Lafayette’s and Mia’s Café. The latter was chosen Best New Restaurant in Charleston. Over the course of his impressive career, Thierry has had the pleasure of cooking for many notable individuals including actor Jack Nicholson, Vice-President Joe Biden, and the Prince of Saudi Arabia.

She is lively, enthusiastic and highly motivated person. Her interests in world culture, wine, food, new destinations and new friends suggest that Erica has found her niche in luxury hospitality.
