DUSTY MACRAE
With 20+ years High-End Guest Service Experience gained as a Fully-certified and Children’s Accredited Private Ski Instructor at Vail Resort’s exclusive Beaver Creek and an equally impressive Corporate Operations and Investment Management Background, Captain Dusty MacRae brings unique Customer Service, Corporate and Sailing Experience to Team Y Not.
A Lifetime Sailor and Club Racer, including five Pt. Huron to Mackinacs (the world’s longest consecutively run offshore freshwater race), Dusty has raced in San Francisco and Sydney Harbors and cruised the Great Barrier Reef, the Azores, the Canary Islands and the Tuscan Archipelago in the Mediterranean.
Part of the original delivery/refit crew, he sailed across the Atlantic Ocean (Ft. Lauderdale – Italy) in July of 2010, served as Engineer during the Italian Refit, and returned Y Not to the Caribbean in 2011.
Drawing on a career managing High-Performing Customer Service Organizations at PepsiCo, USWest and General Motors, Dusty developed and instituted the “Y Not Way” highlighting values, behaviors and techniques for delivering over-the-top Service and Experiences to cruising owners, guests and crew.

ADAM SMID
From the Engine Room to the top of the Mast, Mate and Assistant Engineer Adam Smid, from the Czech Republic, brings an extensive International Sailing and Cruising background to Team Y Not.
Part of the original refit/delivery crew, Adam sailed Y Not across the Atlantic Ocean (Ft. Lauderdale – Italy) in July of 2010 and returned with her to the Caribbean in 2011. Along the way, he developed a deep understanding and mastery of just about every mechanical, electrical and ship’s system onboard – and that was after spending a hands-on year working on the refit in Italy!
With a Bachelor Degree in Mathematics and Masters Degrees in Latin and Philosophy, Adam can be counted on to engage in deep and meaningful conversations. An avid hiker and outdoorsman, he can guide your hikes ashore and is sure to know the historical story and significance of every wreck, ruin, reef, tree and trail through the Caribbean Islands.
As our enthusiastic tender driver, Adam will tirelessly shuttle you ashore for shopping or sightseeing or deliver you to your favorite dive spot or secluded beach. While you are sunning in the sand, he will spin off to fulfill your every request ashore for last minute provisioning, shopping or making reservations at a favorite spa or restaurant!
