CAPTAIN JACKSON MCHORNEY'S love of the sea comes naturally. A true "son of a son of a sailor," he is the son and grandson of Chesapeake Bay sea captains. A former junior high school teacher turned full-time sailor, his 60,000 sea miles have included seeking out adventures in the sunny Caribbean, exploring the historic Spanish Main, and sailing up the exotic Rio Dulce in Guatemala. His visits to the Mediterranean have provided seaside adventures including meeting the rich and famous in St. Tropez, discovering archaeological treasures and ruins in Turkey and traipsing through the marketplaces of Casablanca, Morocco. Jackson has extensive knowledge of the eastern US seaboard, having ventured along his native coasts for the past 25 years. During his 20 years of chartering, Jackson has shared his love of the sea, knowledge of history and culture and enthusiasm for water sports with his guests. He especially enjoys teaching water skiing and sailing and introducing his guests to the breathtaking world beneath the water.
Captain Jackson returns to Y Not after 5 years on motor and larger sailing yachts. he loves Y Not and the feels she is the perfect size for just the right level of guest comfort and convenience!
Chef / Mate - Diego Cerasi
Sailing has been Diego‘s life since the age of 8. Diego was born in Rome, Italy and step by step he grew up
learning every single skill and job on board. He learned at a young age to never give up till a problem is fixed or a task is accomplished. He likes to face new challenges and puts all his efforts to accomplish them. He has a great positive attitude and happy approach to life and people.
Diego worked for several years as a Chef in restaurants in Italy, and then later on as a Yacht Chef when he
joined the marine industry. Obviously Italian cuisine is one of Diego’s foremost specialities, but he also likes to
produce many healthy and tasty international dishes.
Diego spent many years as a Sailing Instructor and has also done lots of deliveries and ocean crossings. His
early years were spent in the Mediterranean and in the last six years Diego has been actively doing charters in
the Caribbean. He speaks Italian, English, Spanish and French.
Stew / Deckhand - Nina Meyer
Nina was born in Switzerland and speaks German, Italian, French, English, Spanish. Her early career started in
Swiss TV after which she worked as a Journalist and Editor of a local Swiss newespaper. Nina is very active with
all kinds of sports, and has a motorcycle licence as well as a licence to drive lorries up to 3.5 tons. Her love of
diving and all forms of water sports led her to a career in the sailing industry where Nina has now found her niche
in life.
