Michael Gooding (Master Class 3, Master 3000 GT
Michael’s experience spans more than 30 years in the marine and hospitality industries. He brings to SILENT WORLD II a management experience gained from working on a range of vessels and careers ashore.
Michael was previously Captain of 43m MY Keri Lee, where he earned a reputation of excellence. Prior to that he was the Marine Manager at Hayman Island in the Whitsundays. Hayman Island is a 5 star resort on the Great Barrier Reef and is a member of "The Leading Hotels of the World." Earlier Michael was CEO of the Queensland Marine Academy and senior lecturer at the Australian Maritime College. During this term of 5 years he ensured the Masters of Superyachts had the qualifications and skills necessary to be Captains of Superyachts around the world.
Teamwork is important to Michael. Together Michael and his Crew ensure the presentation and the level of service aboard SILENT WORLD II exceeds charter guests’ expectations. Their combination of commitment to hospitality and service, and their passion for the sea, means they deliver a superior charter experience.
Matthew Rose 1st Mate (Captain Class 4)
Matthew has wide ranging experience from being in the Armed Forces to yachting. His marine qualifications include IYT Yachtmaster Offshore, Master Class 4 and Marine Engine Driver Grade 2. Matt has been in the industry since 2002 and brings quality to the team. Matt enjoys music, travel, diving, snowboarding, and adventure activities.
Steve Dix Engineer (Engineer Grade 2)
Steve is from New Zealand and has been in the marine industry since 1976. Steve has a vast knowledge of vessels and their management including experience in the New Zealand Navy prior to Superyachts. Steve has an easy going nature, and has an ability to maintain a very high standard and work ethic which makes him committed to a “team environment”, He ensures the vessel is running smoothly for your charter.
Chef - Shawn Semmler
Shawn has ten years’ experience as a Chef and five of those are in yachting. Shawn is passionate about everything she does and her flair with art has made her skill as a Chef even more special. Originally from Chicago she went to Savannah, Georgia to study for her degree in graphic design at the Savannah College of Art and Design. During this time she formed her appreciation for gourmet cuisine by working in high-end restaurants while in school. She stumbled upon the yachting industry in 2002 in Savannah. Shawn speaks English and Spanish and has a passion for art.
Chief Stewardess - Shaye Mead has been working on superyachts since 2000 after completing her Hospitality Accreditation and travelling abroad for six months. Shaye is appreciative of the lifestyle and opportunities working on a superyacht presents, the variety of people she gets to meet and also the amazing destinations she gets to visit and explore. Shaye enjoys looking after charter guests whilst they experience some of what this fantastic region has to offer.
2nd Stewardess - Niki Chung grew up in Australia and has worked in the marine industry since 2003. After completing university and working in Engineering and running her own business, Niki decided to join the Superyacht Industry. She further developed her experience by training at the Australian Butler School. Niki is reliable and you can trust that your requests aboard will be handled with professional flair.
