After several seasons running the 62’ charter catamaran More Amore, Pete and Niki are very excited to be making new waves as they join Best Revenge 5. A capable, thoughtful and flexible team, Pete and Niki are dedicated to ensuring you experience the vacation of a lifetime. Before becoming a charter crew, they sailed several thousands of miles on their own 43’ sloop – Don Quixote II – which served as both their home on the east coast of England and their Rocinante for many sailing holidays around Europe. Their biggest journey yet was to get married and sail off into the sunset… or rain, as was the case of the British weather! They cruised through Spain, Portugal and The Canary Islands before crossing the Atlantic and making landfall in Antigua. Finally sailing their way to the British Virgin Islands, Pete and Niki entered the charter industry and never looked back. The perfect honeymoon that has never ended…
CAPTAIN: Pete Clapp
Pete, who was born into a sailing family on the South East coast of England, has worked in the watersports industry for over 20 years and, in that time, has gained many qualifications and considerable experience, including: RYA/MCA Commercial Offshore Yachtmaster, RYA Powerboat, Windsurfing and Senior Sailing Instructor, experienced BCU canoe and kayak coach, and PADI Open Water Diver.
He regularly skippers corporate regattas on the south coast of England and has completed many Atlantic crossings. Pete is a confident, capable captain who safely steers his guests through the beauties of the British Virgin Islands and BR5’s other cruising grounds. His personal skills, friendly service and extensive knowledge of the islands ensure an unforgettable time aboard BR5.
CHEF/HOSTESS: Niki Payne
Niki, a former teacher, has a real sense of adventure which has led her from the rural farm grounds of her home county to travel and work through Europe and the USA. She has a Bachelor’s of Education in Physical Education and English. Additionally she holds a RIPH Level 2 Award in Catering Food Safety, is STCW 95 sea-safety trained, and is PADI Open Water dive-certified.
With over 10 years sailing experience (including four years in charter service) and extended cruising in Europe and the Caribbean, Niki is passionate about your culinary experience afloat and takes care to tailor food and wine pairings accordingly, including catering for those with special diets and palates. She enjoys cooking with the freshest ingredients, incorporating local produce where available, and creating a variety of flavorsome, wholesome dishes that complement the sailing experience. As her sample menus reflect, her tastes run the gamut from culinaire moderne classics to island specialties and Eastern twists.
Pete and Niki form a fantastic team afloat; from delicious dining and ‘champagne’ sailing, to the personal snorkeling tours and special “Captain’s cocktails”, they are passionate about each and every aspect of your charter experience.
