Stephen, a native of Rhode Island, had boating instilled in him from an early age. Stephen’s family owned a sailboat yet he spent many years trying to avoid the family sailing trips. After finally relenting, he was hooked from the first opportunity he sailed the boat himself. After a career in the family business, he followed his passion and began his next career in yachting. After working on several boats, Stephen earned enough experience to earn his captain’s license and has been forging ahead ever since. Stephen has spent 10 years on yachts, with New England area being his favorite cruising ground. Stephen has also traveled the Caribbean, Bahamas, the entire eastern seaboard of the USA including Nova Scotia. Stephen’s hobbies include golf, traveling, and cooking.

Engineer – Blake Plyer
Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Blake moved with his family to Florida at the age of four. Growing up on Tampa Bay has allowed Blake to enjoy his family’s passion for all things related to the sea. He spent six years of his childhood living aboard the family’s yacht traveling throughout Florida and the Gulf of Mexico. Blake began his Professional Yachting career at the age of 20 and has not looked back since. He has worked in various positions onboard yachts as Deckhand to Mate to Engineer. Yacht sizes have varied as well, ranging from 40 feet to greater than 150 feet. He has found his current niche as the Engineer aboard Sovereign, saying “this size yacht is not too big and it’s not too small. For me it seems to be just right.” Blake finds himself doing much more than engineering on board. Fishing, diving and snorkeling are all skills from Blake’s up-bringing that the entire crew is involved in. This is the reason why he cheerfully describes Sovereign as his “most enjoyable challenge yet!”
