Captain: Robert Bredeck
Robert began sailing at age 8 in Michigan, where he came of age and completed his education with a Masters Degree in English Literature from Michigan State University. Post-Graduate school led to a position in Denver Colorado, and traveled abroad where he came to live and rediscover his sailing roots in St. Thomas in 2002.
Robert holds a 100 ton US Coast Guard License, is a PADI certified open water diver and has sailed extensively over the past 5 years in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands including a trip to South Africa. Most recently, he completed an 8 month trans-Atlantic Loop on a 28ft. Irwin dubbed 'Ramblin Rose'. The voyage included the Azores, Portugal, Spain, Morocco, and Madeira.

Jennifer Jackson your Chef, on the SV Irie is no new hand. She has been in the Virgin Islands since 2007 and has worked on Irie since the 2009 season. Her experience on boats extends back to her early childhood, growing up in Cocoa Beach, FL. Always on the water in whatever shape or fashion she could manage. From swimming and diving to surfing and boating Jennifer feels at home on the water. Coming from a very close southern family is where Jennifer received her absolute love of food. Her respect for food and all their amazing flavors comes from travelling and from different people she meets. So no need to worry, you can enjoy taste from all over the world on Irie in the middle of the beautiful Virgin Island waters. Jennifer left behind a 9 to 5 job as a mechanical engineer draft tech and her own catering company to enjoy preparing food on the water. So if you are looking to leave the hussel and bussel of day to day life behind, Jennifer will show you how.
First Mate Franklin Jackson is a one of a kind guy. There is no other first mate out there like him. Franklin comes from South Dakota where his family has a ranch and hard work is what they do. Some of Franklin’s family, including his father, joined the island family in the 50’s. He himself moved here to the Virgin Islands in 1998. Living here on and off while serving his country Franklin is right at home on these waters. Franklin’s love for hard work and a good time is non-stop. Diving, any and all water sports & sailing are what make him tic. He has been living on the SV Irie since May of 2010 and knows her inside and out. In that case there is not a lot Franklin does not know and you will learn that when he starts showing you around. His amazing stories and knowledge of the islands will blow your mind. So if its story hour, wakeboarding, hiking, diving or anything else you’re looking to do Franklin is the perfect person to see that you have fun doing it.
SV Irie is coming into the 2011-2012 season with three familiar faces and one very new very special addition to our team. Captain Robert Bredeck will be at the helm for his 6th season on Irie. Leading the way and dazzling you with his fabulous rum drinks. First Mate Franklin Jackson is back! Ready to show you the meaning of “Irie” and more excited then ever. And those classics delicious smells coming from the galley are made by non other the Jennifer Jackson. Pleased to be introducing some new taste to her menu. Now drum roll please….. SV Irie is proud to introduce a 2nd mate. He hails from a small town in Kentucky. Weighing in a 5.5lbs, Bright Green Eyes, Soft Copper Coat, a true lover of the seas he is Mr. Beans, our new Doxies. We can’t wait for you to meet him. Already he has brought so much love into the hearts of the families that have met him. And for those who are concerned about hair and yappy barking, he has neither of these traits. Mr. Beans is a miniature short hair meaning this is as big as he will get and he is hyper-allergenic. As for his personality, he takes after the crew of Irie everyone is welcome!
