Patti and Charlie have sailed for 25 yrs from Maine to Venezuela. In the 1990's they operated Charter Sunset Sails in Long Island, NY. They both enjoyed taking people out and turning them on to sailing so much that they eventually expanded to their present operation of term charters in paradise.
They are living their dream sailing in the Virgins and want to share it with you. As a couple, they are very easy-going and after 28-years of marriage, they still hold hands when walking together and are very much in love! They are the perfect compliment to your romantic vacation in the islands.
Several years ago, in their spirit of adventure, they were in the Virgin Islands wondering what was over the horizon. So they sailed down island all the way to Venezuela stopping at most of the islands. When they got there they realized that the best anchorages, scenery, sailing and snorkeling was right in their Winter home waters of the Virgin Islands! They had to find out for themselves and have been exploring the Virgins ever since.
Capt. Charlie worked as a Field Service Engineer for the world's largest manufacturer of blood chemistry analyzers, Roche Diagnostic Systems. He holds a USCG 100 ton Masters license and an STCW safety certification. He is an ASA Certified Sailing Instructor and will be able to certify you in Coastal Cruising and Bareboat Chartering through The American Sailing Association. Their sailing dinghy is great fun for learning!
Hobbies include classical guitar, snorkeling, SCUBA diving, photography, & chess. Charlie changes hats in the summer from captain to marine surveyor in New York and has the knowledge and experience to discuss yacht maintenance and your future boat purchase.
Patti worked in special education and taught art. She has a way with kids with her sweet, loving, patient and easy-going personality. She loves children and children love her! She also loves gourmet cooking, having taken courses in culinary arts. Dinner aboard Islander is often the highlight of a fun-filled day!
Oh, we almost forgot... the ship's cat, B.C. (Black Cat) which we are willing to board if needed. She is sweet, gentle and loves to entertain.
