Captain Matthew (Kippa) Satchwell
Matthew has been an enthusiastic sailor from a very young age. He has competed in most of the thoroughbred offshore races as well as at a professional inshore level.
With a fondness for people and the ocean, skippering a super yacht has been a natural fit for him.
Born in the thriving tourist destination of South Africa he has been surrounded by the hospitality business from day one.
He is young which leaves him constantly energetic, always looking for new places and things to experience.
In the eight years he has worked on yachts, he has cruised the windward and leeward islands of the Caribbean extensively as well as New England, the Mediterranean and Adriatic, so you can be sure he can find you a unique location every day.
Word from the Captain
Few people realize how important the crew is when chartering a super yacht.
Over the years I have been part of a myriad of crews on all sorts of boats. I learnt very quickly that the moods and ethic of the crew had more influence on the guests than even the weather.
I like to think it is very apparent that we take great pride and pleasure in our individual roles and as a team aboard Oceans Seven.
Nick and Anna are a bubbly young couple and among the finest crew Katie and I have had the privilege to work with. As a team we are able to ensure that the service is to a six star standard while at the same time maintain a friendly and informal atmosphere between guests and crew.
As I mentioned, I think passion is the most important ingredient and Katies food is most certainly prepared from the heart. Katie is a true foodaholic and tries to ensure all our guests leave with the same enjoyment and off course a full belly.
Oceans Seven is definitely a remarkable boat itself. It is truelly rare to be afforded such volumous living arrangements while still ensuring pedigree sailing.
Whether we are off St Tropez or Miljet we will ensure you go away smiling!
See You Soon!
Your Captain,
Kippa
Chef Katie French
Katie grew up in America, Switzerland, France and Ireland, she is however proudly Canadian.
She has forever been fascinated by the pleasure taste brings to people; it is one of the rare things people allow themselves to indulge in for no other reason than just to enjoy that moment.
Fortunately for Katie, and Oceans Sevens guests, there is nowhere Katie would rather be than in her galley nurturing her valrhona chocolate soufflé to life. Or preparing ceviche from the Mahi Mahi you caught off the back of the yacht that afternoon.
Katie has completed cooking courses at the famous Cordon Bleu in Paris and Grange cookery school in Dorset England.
Her food is always healthy and a true taste sensation, it is very variable with her foods main influences being French and Mediterranean cuisine and culture.
She will proudly tell you she has the most important job in the world.
Mate Nick Marshal & Stewardess Anna Renz
Nick Marshal and Anna Renz started sailing dinghies at a young age. While studying at university they both raced for their respective University sailing teams and spent the summers teaching sailing in the Balearics. Having gained a degree in Art History Anna went on to work in book publishing, and with Nick helped to deliver yachts in the Mediterranean during holidays. Nick completed his degree in Naval Architecture he then spent 6 months in New Zealand working as an engineer on a 120ft ketch. Careers as professional yacht crew were the next logical step. They each look forward to making sure that your time onboard is a fun and relaxing experience.
Nick has been a keen sailor from a young age. He grew up cruising and racing yachts off the west coast of Scotland and also competed in dinghy racing at a National and International standard. Nick’s love for sailing led to a degree in Naval Architecture, during his holidays he was a dinghy racing coach in the Mediterranean and assisted with a number of yacht deliveries. A career as a professional yacht crew soon followed and as First Mate on Ocean’s Seven Squared Nick looks forward to welcoming you onboard.
Anna started sailing dinghies at the age of twelve and has never looked back. Competing at National level during her school years she went on to sail for her University team and teach sailing in the Balearics. While studying for her Masters degree in Art History she participated in several yacht deliveries and cruised in her family yacht on the west coast of Scotland. After university Anna enjoyed working in marketing and events management for book authors at Scotland’s foremost publishing house. However, a return to sailing beckoned and she is now delighted to make your time on Ocean’s Seven Squared a fun and relaxing experience.
