| CREW PROFILES | | | Captain: Richard Hudson | Nationality: US | | Number of Crew: 2 | | Crew Profiles: Captain Richard Hudson, a US Coast Guard Master Licensed Captain, and one of only two US Coast Guard Approved Instructors for the Masters Sailing License on St. Thomas, brings a lifetime of sailing experience and a love of the sea to Good Medicine
Following high school, Rich served 2 years in the US Navy aboard the USS Oriskany, which sailed the waters of the South China Sea including Japan, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Viet Nam.
Once back on land, he attended culinary school and obtained his degree in Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management. His culinary career ranged from chef at the exclusive Dallas Club to having managed many different types of restaurants.
Although he was happy in the restaurant world, Rich's desire to fly finally got the better of him and he next obtained a degree in Aviation and a new career, this time spending 29 years flying everything from the Alaskan bush flights to international jets.
Throughout it all, Rich spent almost all of his free time in the water, perfecting his passions of spear fishing and underwater photography, and on the water sailing a wide variety of boats everywhere from the Chesapeake to Cuba, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
Rich turned his attention to sailing the rest of the world when he retired from the airlines. He left the US, headed through the the Panama Canal and on to the South Pacific to the islands of Tahiti, Cooks, Tonga and Fiji and then on to New Zealand. He met his beautiful wife, Shahida, upon his return to Fiji and together they spent several years sailing between Fiji and New Zealand, and then Malaysia.
Sha Hudson was born and raised in Fiji and is also a US Coast Guard Licensed Captain. Following several years sailing the South Pacific, Malaysia and Singapore, she and her husband, Rich, spent several years redesigning and restoring their Durbeck 52 in the Virgin Islands. Sha is also a very talented cook who can bring a South Pacific flair to her Fiji Indian curry as well as make a perfectly round roti!
As Rich and Sha as your guides to all the Virgin Islands have to offer you, your time aboard will, indeed, be Good Medicine!
