As a private, commercial and charter yacht captain for over 20 years, Virginia has logged over 397,000 nautical miles of ocean sailing and brings a wealth of experience with her to MATAU. Having worked with TRAVIS YACHTS for over a year and a half, she has sailed both MATAU and TRUE NORTH over 9,000 nautical miles.
Virginia has been a navigational instructor for over nine years and has many articles published to her credit in a national magazine. She has also commanded commercial vessels up to 158’ in navigational training, ocean sailing and oceanographic research.
Virginia not only takes great pride, but enjoyment in her profession. During her tenure she has made safety and service of paramount importance and takes honor in presenting a dependable, first class and immaculate vessel. With a previous background in the hospitality industry, her attention to detail brings a strong sense of dedication and commitment to the yachting industry, which is reflected in the level of service provided to owners and guests. ENGINEER: JAMIE J. STARK
A native of the U.S.V.I., Jamie was also a New England business owner and holds two Masters Licenses in mechanical trades. Among his other talents, Jamie became a U.S. National ranked competitive swimmer and natural free-diver with a deep appreciation for the aquatic world. Jamie is also an accomplished equestrian with formal training in dressage.
Having been born on a yacht and living his entire life on and near the ocean, it was easy for him to make the career change to the Yachting Industry in 1997. His abilities and flair extend far beyond the engine room, where he is able to ensure guests needs, comforts and the true enjoyment of the surrounding waters.
Jamie combines his charismatic charm, his passion for sail and his old world style of professional work ethics. All these promise an opportunity to experience a thrilling adventure in high style.

Chef: Christopher R. Cantrell
After attending university and majoring in Education Chris started working in restaurants and soon found he had a passion for the culinary arts.
Chris trained for three years w/ some of the most popular chefs in the US. By invite only, Chris attended the Domaine Chandon Napa Valley 30th Anniversary where the fare where chefs prepared a thirty course dinner!
Being in the Florida area, Chris was intrigued with many of the yachting magazines. With his passion for cooking and intrigue with the yachting world it did not take long before Chris was onboard and fine tuning his culinary skills. Chris now has 8 years of yachting experience as head chef and for the last three years held the position as head chef onboard a motor yacht.
He now brings to MATAU sincerity for local flavors and ingredients that will enhance your guests’ surroundings. Chris’s extensive charter experience will let you rest at ease knowing you are in good hands.
Stewardess: Alice Morby
Alice grew up on a farm in southern England. Her family owned horses and Alice is an accomplished Equestrian. She graduated with a degree in Leisure and Tourism.
Alice also earned a degree in Special Effects Make up for films/photo shoots. She was involved in many short films and photo shoots along with working with burn patients in films.
Alison was all so an Event Supervisor. She supervised events for the Estate of the Duke and Ditches of Richmond for up to 1500 people. She was all so Event Supervisor for the British Foreign Office and entertained Dignitaries from all over the world.
Her God Father has been in the yachting industry for years and is the Director of IYT in Ft. Lauderdale. He spoke to her about the industry many times and she became interested while finishing up at the Foreign Office in England.
Alice received her STCW and proceeded to attain a position in the yachting industry.
New to the industry, Alice has enlarged her background with a year on a motor yacht and now on the sailing Catamaran MATAU.
It’s always Alice’s pleasure to make the guests happy and at ease. She has a great love for what she does and will go the extra mile to ensure all the guests will have a magnificent time on MATAU, leaving them with the best memories.
